Let’s meet with… Eunyoung and Hye Sun!

We start this forth week in the starting block with our (yes, already), 10th team. They come all the way from Asia Pacific; please let us introduce the Korean team composed with Eunyoung and Hye Sun!

Part of the Renault Samsung of Yongin in Korea, our two friends were already convince that the Rally Aicha des Gazelles was the opportunity of a life time.

Let’s go discover the effects of this selection!

SELECTIONS BACKSTAGE…

Where were you when you first got the news that you were selected for the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles 2015? Did you expect it?

Good news that is spreadind all around the world…

On the 9th of December, at 8AM (Korean time) Eunyoung was on her way to work. “On the website, the counterdow had just changed to “D-0” and my heart started to bounce and bounce”. Because of the time difference of 8 hours, they thought that it would be announced a few hours later, however, Eunyoung could not help checking the website. And all in her favor! Around 10 am, suddenly, a new banner turned up. “I clicked with a shacky finger…our photo was right there!!! I tried to refresh the page more than 20 times to be sure!” Of course, we were looking forward to be selected!!

What was your first reaction? Did you burst into tears? Did you let out a cry of joy?

Hye Sun was at a conference with about 30 people when she got the message from her friend. “The presentation was ongoing and it was very quiet, when suddenly I cried of joy because the news really moved me!

Eunyoung on her side was jumping around happily in the Powertrain building corridors’. She is telling us that after the selections’ weekend she was very moved by this experience. It was actually a first nomination for Korea. “We didn’t have much information for the preparation, but we accomplished all tests and it was intense.”

An emotional and exclusive experience for our two Koreans, who, on top of discovering the Rallye Aicha des Gazelles, did get the chance to meet with Gazelles from all over the world…

What was the first thought that went through your mind when you realized that you were going to become a real Gazelle?

Our two Gazelles are explaining that their hearts were fluttering with the taste of adventure; they are “inexplicably delighted”! “For a few seconds, we didn’t have any thought, only pure joy”.

Then they imagined how their dear Duster would be?

Only jubilation and joy for our duo, which let themselves being overwhelmed by this unexpected news!

To whom did you tell the news first? What was your friends and family reaction?

At their work place, the girls told the news to their colleagues first who have always been there to support them. After that, they informed their dear family.

Immediately, like two well-connected Gazelles, they uploaded the news to Facebook page straight away. “We received tons of congrats and support messages on Facebook and, of course, in person”.

Again a duo of Gazelles, “in” and “connected”, who are eager about sharing good news! We love it!

What were your co-workers first words when you announced the good news?

“Wow”! “Congratulations”! “It will be a wonderful experience for you”! Etc…  Mostly, they congratulated them… Loads of positive energy from their colleagues, who are very proud to have those two Gazelles jumping around in the corridor!

Jealousy came from many male coworkers asking why there is no such rally for men!

“Tremendous, tremendous they were tremendous…” (Stromae)

During the selection weekend, did you have doubts about the next step of the adventure? Instead, did you realize that the Rallye was made for you?

Despite the fact that it’s the first selection for Korea, Hye Sun and Eunyoung arrived at the selections’ weekend without any sign of stress. “ We didn’t have any doubts, we just did our best during the selection weekend and we were having a good feeling that day”. In addition, we tend to be lucky in terms of challenge. “Actually, at the dinner at the end of the selection weekend, we have already discussed the clothes we shall wear for the Rallye after party”!

As Rihanna would say “Shine bright like a diamond!”

During the selection weekend, what test was the most difficult? The easiest?

The hardest test was, of course, the obstacle course with the fireman outfits. “We were not the strongest one among the Gazelles. We still can’t believe that we lifted up and down that long and heavy ladder. It’s a mystery we had unknown superpower!

The entire world is waiting for you and the powers you possess.

In you satin tights fighting for your rights!

Wonder Women

The easiest part was the running for Eunyoung and the cycling for Hye Sun.

Isn’t the Rally perfectly made?

They are taking the words out of our mouth: “ Aren’t we a perfect team? “

Which values are best represented during the selection weekend?

During the whole weekend they have encouraged and cheered each other. An unforgettable moment of friendship!

“Thanks to endurance, we realized that we could push ourselves beyond our limits”.

What are your teammate strengths that will be useful in the desert?

Eunyoung is the one who is agile and has a good instinct. “ If we don’t have a clue in the desert about what we are doing, following Eunyoung’s instinct will be THE solution”. Hye Sun is the one who is patient and who has a “zen attitude”. Hye Sun will not panicked even though an alien from another galaxy visits our Duster to help us read the map.

Oh yes… She might be the only human being who would stay calm in such situation!

What are you team best asset?

With natural optimism, the binomial is very confident and can resolve any problem in a crises’ situation. Even if these crises have never been seen before.

“We are just ready to sip a glass of wine on the top of the Duster in the desert, looking at the shining stars”.

Every problem has a solution…

What do you dread most during the Rally?

No fears for our two Gazelles who will soon see what the desert had for them.

“We are ready to enjoy the ride!”

They’re on the right track they were born this way!

What are you expecting the most about the Rallye?

Novelty… and action!

The girls are torn between: new emotions, new adventures that they have never lived before and the pleasure of discovering the beauty of the Moroccan landscapes.

“On one hand, we expect to enjoy the romantic and beautiful sunset on the desert, but, on the other hand, we can’t wait to face with the sandstorm”!

In search of happiness and new savors!

The typical Gazelle is brave and a little bit reckless. Tell us what is the craziest thing you did in life?

Sun went scuba diving on a boat with her friends in the Komodo Islands in Indonesia. « During a dive, the group I was swimming with drifted away accidentally and I were left there, 25 m under water, alone, for a few minutes. It was a scary and dangerous moment but still the underwater creatures were beautiful!”

Hye Sun can be reassured, in the desert, there is little chance that she will meet fast water flowing …

What state of mind are you in today? What are your next steps to prepare for the Rallye? Triathlon training? Mountain climbing?

A warrior preparation!

“We have many things to be prepare for: our weak point is orienteering race.” Since they never had the chance to learn it before, our Koreans are eager to give it a go! Surely, they will continue to perfect their driving skills and work always more!

No pain, no gain, they got it right !

What sentence, quote or war cry would best describe your team?

Hye Sun used to quote this sentence since high school and now it perfectly matches our team!

“Without adventures, life is not worth living”

Amen!

A nickname for your team?

“The RSM typhoon!

The girls explain that RSM comes from their work place and means Renault Samsung Motors. And the typhoon is a reference to their envy to enjoy the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles!

Also, the logo of RSM is the eye of a typhon :

Would you dare to win the race?

“We dare to and are willing to take the victory!!”

A radiant and sunny duo!

One word to describe the adventure, which is about to start?

“Des(s) ert – Parallelism between two things that we desire, who makes your mouth watering and to which, we can’t say no!”

Des(s) sert!

A delicious appetizer from our two Gazelles! Calm, serene, ambitious and avid to surpass themselves: this is how we would describe in a few words this binomial made in Korea.

The suspense is more and more intense: who will win the race?!

What a way to start the week!
